Luis Enrique is planning to sign Rodrygo for Manchester United if he is named as head coach, according to reports from Defensa Central.

The Red Devils are looking for a new boss following the decision to sack Ruben Amorim after 14 months at the club. As a result, sporting director Jason Wilcox is looking at potential options to replace him.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick are being considered as short-term solutions for the role, while a host of other candidates are in contention to take the job at the end of the current season.

After developments regarding Enrique's situation, he could now be a leading candidate to take the job at Old Trafford.

Luis Enrique's curent situation will undoubtedly have piqued the interest of Wilcox and the Manchester United hierarchy.

Reveled by El Chiringuito TV reporter Francois Gallardo, Luis Enrique has reported decided to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. His contract with the French giants expires at the end of the season with claims that he hopes to embark on a new challenge. Gallardo also suggested that Manchester United could be his next destination with the Spaniard available to start a new role as early as June.

Responding to the claim, PSG's sporting director Luis Campos told Canal+ on Tuesday that the reports were: "100% fake news."

Should Luis Enrique get the Manchester United job, reports from Defensa Central claim that he is keen to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo. Earning £370,000 a week, the Brazilian star has endured a frustrating season under Xabi Alonso in which he has fallen out of favour. While back in contention at the Bernabeu now, the second half of the campaign will be telling in regard to his future with Los Blancos.
