Manchester United are targeting Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo as one of their top options in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are planning a major defensive rebuild ahead of next season, with the pursuit of the 21-year-old Brazilian defender seen as part of their long-term plan to prepare for life after Harry Maguire, who is expected to leave the club.
Murillo is on Manchester United’s radar.
Murillo has been rated as one of the most impressive defenders in the Premier League this season. Even though he only signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Nottingham Forest in January 2025, the young defender is still open to a move if an attractive opportunity arises at a bigger club.
He stands out thanks to his strong left foot, impressive speed, and excellent physical condition, all of which fit the profile of a modern centre-back. Murillo is also highly valued for his ability to carry the ball forward, escape pressing, and contribute to building attacks from the back — qualities that Manchester United are currently lacking in defense.
Another major advantage is his experience in the Premier League, which would allow him to adapt quickly without needing much time to settle, unlike players arriving from foreign leagues.
However, Manchester United will not have an easy path to signing Murillo. Barcelona are also closely monitoring the defender, and Nottingham Forest hold the upper hand due to his long contract. As a result, his transfer fee is expected to be very high, forcing interested clubs to think carefully before making a move.
