Michael Carrick's unbeaten run as Manchester United interim boss extended to five games with a 1-1 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium, but the result has sparked wild accusations from fans that the players deliberately held back to avoid a fifth straight win.

United looked sluggish for much of the match, only salvaging a point in the last minute through Benjamin Sesko's incredible finish.

The performance left many supporters questioning the team's intensity, especially after four impressive victories over Arsenal, Manchester City, Fulham, and Tottenham.

The draw has fuelled conspiracy theories linking the result to the viral "United Strand" fan challenge, where supporter Frank Ilett has grown his hair for nearly 500 days, promising a buzzcut if United win five in a row.

Some fans claim the players intentionally played for a point to deny Ilett the publicity of his long-awaited haircut.

Reactions poured in on social media, with many suggesting the squad knew about the fan's pledge and chose not to "do him a favour."

The accusations add a bizarre twist to what was already a frustrating night for United, who remain in fourth but missed a chance to close the gap on third-placed Aston Villa.

Fans voiced their suspicions online. One wrote: "The lads knew a win would make United Strand famous forever – they played for the draw to keep the spotlight on themselves ."

Another said: "Deliberate draw! No way they wanted to trigger that haircut hype – players protecting their own brand."

A third joked: "United Strand's publicity is the real enemy – boys held back to avoid the viral haircut clip."

"They saw the Strand memes and thought 'not today' – deliberate 1-1 to keep the challenge going," added a fourth.

Finally, "Players didn't give 100% because a fifth win means Strand gets all the glory – sneaky draw to troll the fan!"
