The Argentina international moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United for £40 million.

Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move away from Chelsea to another European giant just six months after moving from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old joined the Stamford Bridge outfit at the end of last summer's transfer window for £40 million from United.

Garnacho came through the youth team ranks at Old Trafford and won both the FA Cup and League Cup after establishing himself in the first-team squad.

But Garnacho fell out of favour with then United boss Ruben Amorim last season and was part of a so-called 'bomb squad' which trained away from the rest of the squad and were permitted to find pastures new.

That group also included Jadon Sancho, who has joined Aston Villa on loan, while Marcus Rashford has headed to Barcelona for the season and Antony secured a permanent exit to Real Betis after a £21.65 million transfer fee was agreed.

Garnacho scored 26 goals in 144 games in all competitions for United, and has found the back of the net on six occasions for Chelsea in 24 appearances.

United signed Garnacho in October 2020 for the club's Academy for £420,000 from Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old also has eight caps for Argentina, whom he represents due to having an Argentine mother, even though he was born and raised in the Spanish capital of Madrid.

Now, reports have emerged that Garnacho could be heading back to the city of his birth and Atleti.

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Atletico Madrid have registered an interest in signing Garnacho, potentially on loan for the rest of this season.

The attacker has not been a guaranteed starter for Chelsea, who recently made a change in the dugout and replaced Enzo Maresca with Liam Rosenior.

The report from Fichajes claims that Garnacho is seeking a regular starting position and is considering a loan move for the rest of the season in a bid to guarantee more regular playing time and improve his prospects of making the Argentina squad for this summer's World Cup.

The report explains why Diego Simeone's Atleti are considering a move for Garnacho and has personally approved the move.

It says: "The club has been monitoring Garnacho's progress for some time and believes his profile fits their search for young attacking talent, capable of making a difference in one-on-one situations.

"The possibility of a loan is particularly attractive, as it would allow them to bring the player in without a large upfront outlay. The manager values the player's intensity, dribbling ability, and competitive spirit, qualities that align perfectly with Atlético's DNA."

Alejandro Garnacho Fires Dig at Ruben Amorim After Man Utd Sacking

The former Manchester United winger joined Chelsea after falling out with Amorim last season.

Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has seemingly aimed a subtle dig at Ruben Amorim following the news of the Portuguese’s sacking.

Amorim, 40, was sacked by Manchester United on Monday (January 5), less than 24 hours after he watched the Red Devils draw 1-1 against Leeds United at Elland Road.

This came after Amorim appeared frustrated at various aspects of the club in recent weeks, having also claimed he wanted to be a “manager” rather than a “coach” following his side’s draw on Sunday.

This led many to debate whether there had been some kind of disagreement between the 40-year-old and United’s football department.

A report from The Athletic claims the decision was made by the club’s leadership team, including the chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, after a “breakdown in relations” between themselves and the 40-year-old.

In a statement posted to the club’s website, United thanked Amorim for his contribution and said they had “reluctantly made the decision” to sack him.

United are currently sixth in the Premier League after 20 games.

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has emerged as the favourite to replace Amorim, while former Red Devils midfielder Darren Fletcher will take charge on an interim basis ahead of United’s next fixture against Burnley on Wednesday (January 7).

None of United’s players have yet commented on the decision, but former United winger and current Chelsea star Garnacho appeared to aim a dig at his former boss.

The Argentina international, who fell out with Amorim before signing for Chelsea last summer, appeared to like an Instagram post from journalist Fabrizio Romano, which confirmed Amorim’s dismissal.

This led to fans reacting on social media.

    One fan said: “Total pettiness!”

Another added: “Garnacho is still in the same position at a different club, though. Sat on the bench watching his team play. He’s got a new manager coming too, who might not want him. It’s easy to do what he’s doing.”

While a third commented: “I’m crying Garnacho liked it bro.”

A fourth wrote: “Alejandro Garnacho is on another level of bitterness, pettiness and s***housery.

“I pray these two cross paths again in football. Would be pure cinema.”

Garnacho and Amorim did not see eye to eye during their time working together with the Portuguese choosing to leave the winger out of various high-profile matches - including the 2024/25 Europa League final - which culminated in the player and his brother calling out the manager before he was frozen out and made to train away from the rest of the senior squad ahead of his move to Chelsea.

    Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz Already Linked With Liverpool Exit After Just 10 Appearances

Florian Wirtz has had a tough start at Liverpool following his £116 million transfer.

Florian Wirtz has been linked with a sensational move away from Liverpool following his underwhelming start in England.

Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for £116 million during the summer transfer window.

But he has yet to justify his hefty price tag, having failed to score or assist for the Reds in 10 appearances.

Wirtz started his side's opening games before being dropped for their clash against Everton, with the player struggling to adapt to the Premier League.

Ahead of Liverpool resuming their league campaign this weekend, a stunning report in Spain has claimed that Xabi Alonso has told Real Madrid bosses to keep an eye on the German playmaker.

That's according to Defensa Central, who state Alonso has 'asked Real to pay close attention to Wirtz's future at Liverpool'.

Alonso worked with Wirtz during his time at Bayer and was keen on signing him at Real until Liverpool secured his services.

Per the report, Alonso's 'ultimate dream' is to bring Wirtz to Spain, adding that the 22-year-old 'could also welcome this move as a solution to his current situation'.

'He could look for a way out' if he continues to underperform this season.

Arne Slot defends Florian Wirtz after failing to score or assist for Liverpool

Wirtz has been unable to register a goal or assist in 10 games this season, though he has shown glimpses of his ability.

Slot has defended Wirtz on numerous occasions and continued to do so ahead of their game against Manchester United on Sunday.

He claims Liverpool's No.7 has been unlucky and needs time to adjust to the Premier League.

"If you've been brought in for so much money, people look mainly at goals and assists, but I can tell you he could be on six or seven assists already," he told Sky Sports.

"If you look at the passes he's played to his team-mates which unfortunately didn't lead to goals, one of the greatest examples is the Chelsea game where after one minute [since coming on] he had this great flick to Mo Salah.

"For Mo, this is 99 times out of 100 a goal. I have to say 98 out of 100 because the last time he got a ball like this was against Atletico Madrid from Florian Wirtz, but Mo hit the post."

Slot added: "He's been a bit unlucky with the finishing when he's given his team-mates chances but, in general for a 22-year-old, it's quite normal that you have to adjust to going to another country let alone going to the Premier League."

Wirtz came off the bench in Liverpool's defeat to Chelsea before the international break and will be hoping for a spot from the start when they face Man United.

    Alejandro Garnacho

Chelsea Hint at Alejandro Garnacho Role as Champions League Squad Confirmed

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United this summer.

Alejandro Garnacho has been named in Chelsea's 22-man squad for the opening stages of this season's Champions League, with his position being listed on the UEFA website.

The 21-year-old Argentine completed a £40 million move from Manchester United to Chelsea on August 30, bringing an end to a summer-long transfer saga that dominated headlines.

Speaking in his first interview as a Chelsea player, Garnacho said he supported Chelsea growing up because of Eden Hazard. "I used to watch the Premier League when I was young," said Garnacho.

"Obviously Chelsea because I like Eden Hazard," he added. "That's why I support Chelsea, a bit."

Garnacho will wear the No.49 shirt – the same number he wore during his first two seasons in the Manchester United first team – and is expected to play an attacking role in Enzo Maresca's side.

In fact, Chelsea's latest Champions League squad list on the UEFA website has listed Garnacho as a forward rather than a midfielder. Jamie Gittens, meanwhile, has been listed as a midfielder.

The Blues are currently dealing with a significant issue in forward areas. They have been forced to recall Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland following an injury to Liam Delap, while Nicolas Jackson has signed for Bayern.

Garnacho, therefore, could be given a chance in a more advanced position if Maresca decides to switch things up.

That being said, the Italian mentioned the player's ability to "create something" from wide areas as he explained what Garnacho will bring to the Chelsea squad.

"When we are looking for a winger, we are looking for someone who is good one-v-one and who can attack and create something," he said. "Jamie Gittens is that profile, and we will see with Garnacho."

Maresca added: "He is a good winger in one-versus-one and he can create things. This is the way I see things."

Alejandro Garnacho Issues Statement After Every Touch Is Booed In Chelsea Win

Garnacho made his first start for Chelsea in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Lincoln City

Alejandro Garnacho has sent a message to fans after being relentlessly booed during Chelsea's Carabao Cup win over Lincoln City.

Chelsea survived a major scare against the League One side on Tuesday night, coming from behind to win their third round tie at the LNER Stadium.

Rob Street gave the home side a shock lead before two goals in as many minutes after the break from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte turned the match around for Enzo Maresca's side.

Garnacho was handed his first start for the Blues following his £40m move from Manchester United earlier this summer.

But he struggled to make an impact on the match, with his every touch booed by the home supporters.

It was the second game in a row Garnacho had been jeered by opposition fans after being targeted by United supporters on his return to Old Trafford at the weekend, as Chelsea were beaten 2-1 in the Premier League.

Maresca substituted Garnacho on the hour mark against Lincoln and home fans chanted "you're f***ing s***" as the Argentina international left the field.

Despite taking the winger off, Maresca said he was pleased with Garnacho's performance on his first start for the club.

    "Absolutely," said Maresca.

"It was not an easy game. That's why I was upset first half because we know we need to do better.

"But overall, him [Garnacho], [Jamie] Gittens, they did very well."

Garnacho opted not to address his individual performance or the crowd abuse immediately after the match.

He has now issued a statement to Chelsea supporters on his Instagram story.

He posted a picture of himself applauding Chelsea fans as he left the pitch against Lincoln, alongside the caption: "Happy to be in the next round.

"Can't wait to see you at home on Saturday."

Chelsea next face Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday before hosting Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Garnacho has received abuse both in the stands and on social media since his acrimonious departure from Old Trafford, with the winger frozen out by head coach Ruben Amorim prior to his move to Stamford Bridge.

His younger brother Roberto recently fired back at one United supporter who mocked the Argentine following Chelsea's defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday.

After the match, Roberto posted a picture of himself aboard a private jet with his sibling - attracting the attention of United fans.

Roberto later shared a screenshot of a response from one female United fan, which read: "September 20th? Yeah hold that you f***ing freaks", referring to the date of the win over Chelsea.

Roberto responded (via The Sun): "You weigh 150kg, go to the f***ing gym instead of wasting your time texting me."
