Arsenal are ready to join Manchester City in the race to sign Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi - The Mirror.

Wolves are willing to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen this month with Nottingham Forest keen on securing his signature - talkSPORT.

Nottingham Forest have added Brighton forward Evan Ferguson to their list of potential striker targets in January - Daily Mail.

Back Pages is a review of the sports headlines from the national newspapers, every Monday to Friday, live on Sky Sports News from 10.30pm.

The transfer window has been open for more than a week with Arsenal yet to make a move after an active summer in the markets. No deal appears imminent for an incoming arrival but they could still look to get a few deals done.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear that the Gunners will be alert to any opportunities to strengthen in the next few weeks, should the right ones present themselves.

Rodrygo, Arda Guler, Kenan Yildiz and Leon Goretzka are among the high‑profile names linked with a move to the Emirates, while the north London side will also be scouting the next top young talents. At the same time, academy stars Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have attracted interest from elsewhere after struggling for minutes this season.

On the pitch, Arsenal face Liverpool in the Premier League this evening and the Gunners have the perfect chance to extend their lead at the top of the division. Manchester City slipped up against Brighton on Wednesday and Arsenal can go eight points clear with a win.

Stay on top of all the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours in today's live blog.

    What Glasner said on Guehi

It is perhaps no surprise that Arsenal are again being linked with Marc Guehi following the comments from Oliver Glasner on Tuesday.

The Crystal Palace boss was directly asked about the chances of Guehi joining Manchester City this month and he hinted that an exit could happen.

I'm not naive. If a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen. If you're just valuing sports, everyone in the club will say Marc has to stay. The chairman will tell you the same. But it's not one-dimensional. If you see the financial situation, it's very important.

If somebody comes, there will be a moment when the club says 'now the financial issue is more important than the sports issue'.

There will be a threshold where the club has to say it will happen - as long as Marc says 'I want to leave', because the final decision is always with the player.

    Marc Guehi interest

The Athletic's David Ornstein has outlined Arsenal's reported interest in Marc Guehi.

He explains that this is long-standing, having tracked the Crystal Palace star throughout his rise at Selhurst Park. However, they see him as a defensive option for the summer transfer window, not as a January signing.

This would mean waiting in hope that he moves as a free agent and is not snapped up by a rival in the meantime.

Manchester City are debating a January move given their defensive injuries, whilst Liverpool - who almost completed a £35m deal last summer - will be in contention again once the summer begins.

    Bradley Barcola claim

TEAM talk suggest Arsenal are amongst clubs who have enquired about the availability of Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola.

It is claimed the 23-year-old winger - who has scored 31 goals and produced 33 assists in 121 games for the 2024/25 treble winners - has considered his long-term future at PSG due to competition for places in the starting XI.

Barcola's deal runs until 2028 and the Gunners are reportedly interested, as are Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, it is said.

    Marc Guehi latest

After news broke earlier of Arsenal interest in Marc Guehi, it looks to be the transfer battle to watch.

A follow-up from Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg explains how Bayern Munich - a named suitor - still have the Englishman on their wishlist.

They hope Guehi will resist any interest from Manchester City this month in order to attempt a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer.

The German champions have the advantage above English rivals of being able to negotiate within the final six months of the player's contract at Crystal Palace.

    Breno Bidon update

A report from Sport Witness explains how Arsenal may hold an interest in Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, however they are falling behind in the race.

That is because it is said Portuguese champions Sporting CP are stepping up their pursuit of the 20-year-old. They are readying a €15m (£13m) offer, hoping this will be enough to beat Europe's biggest clubs.

    Arda Guler claim

Catalan publication E-Noticies claims Mikel Arteta has made a request to Arsenal to sign Real Madrid talent Arda Guler.

The 20-year-old midfielder began the season as a key part of Xabi Alonso's plans in the Spanish capital, and has made 26 appearances so far, returning three goals and eight assists. However, his role has diminished as the season has progressed.

There is talk of a loan agreement being possible, though that would include a €90m (£78.2m) option or obligation to buy the player.

    Marc Guehi twist

Arsenal are the latest twist in the Marc Guehi saga, according to The Mirror, who report that they are ready to enter the race for the Crystal Palace and England star.

Manchester City have recently been tipped as favourites to make a move for the defender this January, before his contract at Selhurst Park expires in summer.

Liverpool were denied Guehi's £35m signing on transfer deadline day last summer when Palace pulled out of the deal in the final hours, and still hold a strong interest. Bayern Munich are also named admirers.

The Gunners are said to be ready to make their pitch and battle with some of their biggest rivals, though it remains unclear if they will bid this January or try to sign the 25-year-old as a free agent.

    Declan Rice rallying cry

Ahead of Thursday night's fixture against Liverpool, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has undertaken a club interview in which he has called upon supporters to be at their best so that the prospective champions may beat the reigning group.

"It’s a massive game. We need the Emirates to be on it again. We’re unbeaten at home, we need to go out there and give it everything we’ve got," said Rice.

"The energy needs to be right, we need to transmit that energy on the pitch, give them the right reason to cheer and to push us on. It’s one at a time, it’s just another one down off the Christmas schedule and hopefully we can get another win and keep pushing on."

    Tyjon profile

With several youth stars already signed or with deals agreed for future, the next Andrea Berta has his sights on is reportedly Tyjon of Blackburn.

    Deep squad

Arteta is happy to have conundrums and players who people feel aren't playing enough, believing it illustrates the squad depth he desires.

"It always raises the bar," says Arteta. "In training, the standards are higher.

"I think you learn as well from your teammates, with all the qualities they bring, the way they operate, the way they do all the things, and that's really good."
