Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has reportedly accepted that one of the club’s young stars has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, admitting privately that the player is no longer fully committed to staying at Camp Nou. The situation centers on highly rated winger Dani Rodriguez, who has emerged as a long-term target for Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal recruitment team.
Both clubs are enjoying impressive domestic campaigns. Arsenal are leading the Premier League title race, sitting six points clear of Manchester City, while Barcelona are four points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga after 19 matches. Despite their strong squads, both sides continue to plan aggressively for the future.
Arsenal already boast significant depth on the wings with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Noni Madueke, yet the club remains committed to identifying elite young talent across Europe. Spanish outlet E-Noticies reports that Dani Rodriguez has been identified as a potential signing for 2026, with Arteta personally keen on bringing the La Masia graduate to the Emirates Stadium.
Rodriguez, 20, is a right winger developed at Barcelona’s famed academy and is under contract until the summer of 2027. He has made just one senior appearance for the first team so far but is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Barca Atlètic. The report describes him as an emblematic figure of the youth setup and one of La Masia’s standout talents.
His reputation was further enhanced in 2024 when he helped Spain win the UEFA European Under-19 Championship and earned a place in the Team of the Tournament. Arsenal see him as a future-focused project, someone who could be developed into a first-team regular over time.
According to E-Noticies, Flick is prepared to allow Rodriguez to leave, understanding the difficulty the youngster faces in breaking through regularly with Lamine Yamal already established as one of the world’s best young players. With limited pathways to consistent first-team football, Barcelona may be open to cashing in if the right offer arrives.
Although E-Noticies is known for speculative reporting, Arsenal’s interest has been echoed elsewhere. LaMasia Report, a well-followed account dedicated to Barcelona’s academy, has also stated that Arsenal are among several clubs closely monitoring Rodriguez’s situation. The report suggests a January move is unlikely, with the summer window expected to be decisive in shaping the winger’s future.
As things stand, Rodriguez’s desire to join Arsenal appears strong, and Barcelona’s stance suggests they may not stand in his way if the Gunners make a serious move.
