Former Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has subtly shared his reaction to Ruben Amorim’s sacking by interacting with a post on social media.
The Portuguese coach was dismissed after just 14 months in charge at Old Trafford, a decision that followed controversial remarks he made after United’s 1–1 draw with Leeds United.

Despite having already left the club under strained circumstances last summer, Garnacho appeared to take a final, understated swipe at his former manager. The 21-year-old was one of several players pushed to the fringes of the squad and effectively told to seek moves elsewhere after his working relationship with Amorim completely collapsed.
Months after Garnacho completed his transfer to Chelsea, United opted to part ways with Amorim following public comments that exposed internal tensions at the club, according to the Manchester Evening News. In a statement confirming his departure, United said:
“Ruben Amorim has left his position as Head Coach of Manchester United. Ruben was appointed in November 2024 and guided the team to a UEFA Europa League Final in Bilbao in May.
“With Manchester United currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table, the club’s leadership has reluctantly concluded that now is the appropriate time for a change. This decision will provide the team with the strongest possible opportunity to achieve the highest Premier League finish.
“The club extends its gratitude to Ruben for his service and wishes him every success in his future endeavors. Darren Fletcher will assume temporary control of the squad for Wednesday’s match against Burnley.”
The announcement was shared widely by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, including on Instagram, where Garnacho was among those who liked the post. The Argentine winger had joined Chelsea in the summer after falling out with Amorim, having grown increasingly frustrated by his lack of opportunities, including being left out of the Europa League final in May.
When asked recently whether he regretted leaving United, Garnacho was unequivocal. “No. No,” he said. “Sometimes in life you have to make changes to progress or develop as a player. The timing was right, and the club was right. So it was a straightforward decision.”
Earlier in May, Amorim had informed Garnacho that he could look for a new club after excluding him entirely from the squad for the final league match against Aston Villa. Garnacho had also publicly expressed his disappointment at being dropped from the starting XI for the European final defeat.
At the time, Amorim responded by saying: “He is a Manchester United player who isn’t included in today’s squad, but he remains a Manchester United player nonetheless.”
