Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United currently view Elliot Anderson as a top target as part of their plans to overhaul the midfield.
Manchester United are planning a major rebuild of their midfield next summer, despite ongoing uncertainty on the managerial bench. In that context, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared important updates regarding the clubâs transfer strategy.
Anderson is a top target for Man Utd.
Speaking on the Market Madness podcast, Romano stated that Man Utd are considered a âstrong candidateâ to sign Elliot Anderson, the standout midfielder currently playing for Nottingham Forest. The Italian journalist said:
âHe is very high on Manchester Unitedâs list of targets. Alongside Carlos Baleba, these are names Man Utd are closely monitoring. I think they will be very active in the midfield market in 2026, and Anderson is one of those players.â
The strong interest in Anderson is understandable, as he is highly regarded by experts. Thomas Tuchel, his coach, previously described him as an âexceptional playerâ and praised him as âone of the best midfielders in the Premier League at the moment.â However, completing this deal will not be easy.
Romano also warned that Manchester City and Chelsea are both looking to strengthen their midfield and could enter the race if the opportunity arises. As for Man Utd, Romano emphasized that regardless of who becomes the clubâs future head coach, Elliot Andersonâs name has been repeatedly mentioned in internal discussions among the INEOS leadership.
At present, Manchester Unitedâs scouting department, led by Jason Wilcox, is working proactively to ensure the club gains a competitive edge in the pursuit of this high-quality midfielder when the transfer window opens.
