Patrick Dorgu was the man of the moment in the second-half of Manchester United's clash with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon - giving his side the lead with a thunderous volley from the edge of the area

Patrick Dorgu has sparked fresh injury concerns at Manchester United as he was subbed off after pulling up against Arsenal. It was a fiery state of affairs at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening, as the Reds battled tooth and nail with the Gunners.

Lisandro Martinez gave the hosts the lead 29 minutes into the fold, when his clearance from his own six-yard box deflected into the back of Senne Lammens' net. Arsenal didn't hold the advantage for long, however, with Bryan Mbeumo equalling matters eight minutes later.

The Cameroonian latched onto a poorly placed pass back to David Raya in his own half, before rounding the Arsenal shot-stopper and firing into a wide-open goal.

Dorgu then gave his club the lead for the first time five minutes after the break, engaging in a couple of cute one-twos with Bruno Fernandes on the edge of the area before lashing a crossbar cracking volley past a floundering Raya.

Why Manchester United think they made the right call with Benjamin Sesko in £137m transfer battle

However, the 21-year-old's time at the Emirates was cut short prematurely. With around 10 minutes left to play, Dorgu went to ground after battling Ben White in a pacey one-on-one, clutching his hamstring as he lay down.

Manchester United medical staff rushed onto the pitch to assess his situation, before he was substituted off moments later - Benjamin Sesko deployed in his place. While the extent of Dorgu's injury remains unclear it could prove problematic for Michael Carrick in such a pivotal part of the season.

While the interim head coach has had the rub of the green with regards to player injuries since arriving at Old Trafford, a spell on the sidelines for Dorgu would certainly throw a spanner in the works.

The Dane was a key part of United's 2-0 win over City in Carrick's first game in charge, with his impact in Sunday's match with Arsenal also irrefutable.

It comes as Arsenal managed to claw their way back into the match as the clock ticked down, Mikel Merino giving the current league leaders a glimmer of hope as he found the back of the net 84 minutes in.

Jubilation in north London didn't last too long, however, with Matheus Cunha once again pushing the Reds ahead three minutes later with a goal which ultimately proved decisive.

After seven minutes of additional time, a small corner of the Emirates erupted as United ran out 3-2 winners in the capital, in a major upset to Arsenal's hopes of clinching the Premier League title for the first time in more than two decades.

As a result of the win, Manchester United move up to fourth on the league table with 10 wins, eight draws and five losses this season. Up next for the Reds is a home clash with Fulham come Sunday, February 1.
